Tehran-Dushanbe Relations in 2007
He said the visits of a delegation of Tajik judiciary officials, headed by First Deputy Supreme Court of the Republic, and of 40 university instructors and reporters from Tajikistan to Iran in 2007 proved positive in expansion of bilateral relations.
Ajalluian said that furthermore, Iran's ministers of Defense, Science, Research and Technology, and of Energy as well as several cultural and economic officials of the country visited Tajikistan last year, which helped the two countries gain important
achievements, the most important of which being signing of several accords and documents.
He said frequent visits by Iranian and Tajik parliamentary delegations and friendship groups as well as a delegation from Imam Khomeini Relief Committee to Tajikistan to take part in wholesale marriage of 100 Tajik couples and inauguration of several vocational centers are among other instances of broadening of Tehran-Dushanbe relations and cooperation.
The official said the stances Tajikistan takes at different international organizations would favor Iran. "It has always strongly supported Iran's rights, especially its rights to have peaceful nuclear program," he added.
Referring to mutual economic relations' consolidation last year, Ajalluian said that in 2007, Iran was among five countries having highest level of economic relations with Tajikistan.
He went on to say that among remarkable economic events in the two-way relations in 2007 was inauguration of executive operations for construction of Sangtudeh-2 power plant by Iranian Farab Company under dlrs 220 million investment.
He said among other instances of mutual cooperation are final touch of work on Anzab Tunnel by Iran's Sabir Co., an Iranian company's winning the tender for building a road in Tajikistan and the company's starting operations for building the mountain way, growing construction and renovation of buildings by Iranian companies, especially tower and township construction by Iranian companies.
The official said an exhibition of Iranian goods will be organized in Dushanbe.
Construction of the telecommunication equipment, inauguration of the foodstuff and construction materials' production units in Tajikistan with Iranian investors having their full ownership was among activities of Iranian and Tajik traders and investors last year, noted the diplomat.
He added that more visits by Iranian and Tajik citizens in 2007 and addition of one more flight to Iran-Tajikistan flight schedule was among other positive point in mutual cooperation.

Caretaker of Iran's Embassy in Tajikistan Ahmad Ajalluian told here Saturday that the president's Tehran visit and his meetings with Iranian senior officials prepared a new ground for promotion of bilateral political, cultural, economic and social relations.
The diplomat said the year 2007 also marked visits of Tajik elites and thinkers as well as the republic's Minister of Culture and Arts at the head of a delegation of cultural officials, which left deep impact on expansion of bilateral cultural ties.
